1. My system has a low battery trouble indication?This trouble indicates that the backup battery is low or requires replacement. 2. How often do I need to replace the battery?A system backup battery will last typically between 3 - 5 years. When the battery requires replacement or is low, the system will indicates a trouble on the keypad and if monitored, may report a signal to the central monitoring station. 3. How do I replace the backup battery?The battery is located in the main control panel, usually located in the basement or closet. Remove the red and black leads from the battery and then reconnect them to the new battery. Ensure that the red wire is connected to the positive side of the battery and the black wire to the negative terminal. 4. Where can I purchase a new battery?Your battery should be replaced with the current model located in your main control panel. A 12 volt 4 or 7-amp/hour, cell or lead-acid type battery is recommended and can be purchased directly from Vermillion Systems. 5. Where is the main control panel located?The main control panel is located in a metal cabinet, usually located in a basement or closet area. 6. How do I set the time/date?Instructions for setting the time/date are different for each alarm system. Please refer to your instruction manual for further details. 7. How can I find out what trouble my system has?Press '*' then '2'. The keypad will display the current trouble or troubles. Each system contains a different list of trouble conditions. Please refer to your instruction manual for further details. 8. How do I turn on/off the door chime feature?Instructions for adjusting the chime feature are different for each alarm system. Please refer to your instruction manual for further details. 9. How do I test my system?Please contact your installer/dealer for the correct testing procedure. 10. How do I program a new access code on the system?Instructions for programming access codes are different for each alarm system. Please refer to your instruction manual for further details. 11. What if I make a mistake while entering a code to arm or disarm?For DSC alarm systems, press the '#' key and enter your code again. 13. My system accidentally went into alarm, what do I do?Enter your 4-digit user code to disarm the system. If you do not have a user/master code, you will have to power down the system. Follow these steps. (1) Locate the control panel, which is a metal cabinet, either mounted in a closet or basement. (2) Carefully remove the red and black wires from the battery. (3) Turn off the AC power by removing the transformer. Usually the transformer is simply plugged into the wall outlet nearby. This will power down your system completely until you can contact your local security company for service. 14. Where do I get window/door stickers or yard signs for my alarm system?Please contact Vermillion Systems for window/door stickers or yard signs. 15. What is the purpose of the 'Ready', 'Armed' and 'Trouble' indicators?'Ready' or Green Checkmark indicator - this will illuminate when all zones are secure 'Armed' or Red Padlock indicator - this will illuminate when the system is armed 'Trouble' or Orange Triangle indicator - this will illuminate when there is a system trouble. What is the purpose of the three emergency keys on my DSC keypad?These keys can be programmed to provide rapid access for sending an emergency signal to the central monitoring station. For more information, please refer to the instruction manual. 17. What is the purpose of the five function keys on my DSC keypad?These keys are available on the PowerSeries and Maxsys alarm systems. For information, please refer to the instruction manual. 18. How do I arm the system in the 'Away' mode?Instructions for arming in the 'Away' mode are different for each alarm system. Please refer to your instruction manual for further details. 19. How do I arm the system in the 'Stay' mode?Instructions for arming in the 'Stay' mode are different for each alarm system.
